We hope you had a restful and joy-filled holiday season despite the obvious circumstances. We may be in the heart of winter, but the days are getting longer and before you know it flowers will be blooming. So for the time being it feels appropriate to slow down and savor the quiet, calm, and cold environment around us. The selections for this month's club are ideal for long, leisurely meals and books by the fire. Santé!
This month's club selections take us on a world tour from Southern Burgundy to the slopes of Mount Vesuvius, down to Southeastern Australia and then back home to Walla Walla. Yes, there is natural wine being made here in Washington (a tiny amount, but it's a start).
Considering the onset of Winter brings the simmering of stews and the shucking of oysters, plus the red & white pairs we've selected, the theme for this month is Surf & Turf. And while we are not directly encouraging you to make a classically kitsch meal of steak and seafood on the same plate - certainly not if you abstain from meat - please do post a photo of whatever you decide to pair these incredible wines with.
Our inaugural edition of Wine Club! These wines were picked in the spirit of the changing seasons, holiday gatherings, and comfort in the things we know for certain. Although our traditions may look a little different for a while, we still believe the tradition of wine drinking will always live on -- whether for quiet time by yourself, gatherings with your immediate family, or a few close friends. Whoever joins you, these wines are perfect for the times.
