(from Crush Wine Co.)
This bottle occupies a curious place. On the one hand, it is a wine-geek favorite, one of those culty steals snapped up by those in the know, vintage after vintage. On the other hand, the “Weiss & Grau” is a profound value, a “gateway” skin-contact wine to explore the potential of these complex and delicious wines. The “Weiss & Grau” is perhaps the most iconic of their white wines: a field-blend mix, roughly half and half Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc), and Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris). The grapes are brought in and stomped on, and then spend about one week on the skins, macerating, before the juice is pressed with the elevage taking place in large barrels.
