From the importer Scuola di Vino: "Meigamma is a tiny winery born in Villasimius, one hour from Cagliari. It's run by Barbara and Giuseppe Pusceddu. Both are awesome people...extremely kind and sensitive. They have created a cooperative where other farmers can showcase their product like olive oil, honey, wine etc... and where visitors can stop by for a plate of local cheese, Sardinian "porceddu" (baby pig), and other locals specialties...including "mirto"...made with the myrtle plant and berries.
Giuseppe and Barbara as far as wine-making .. since day one....they decided to have a natural approach. Organically grown grapes only, spontaneous fermentations, old barrels, and no sulphur. They are also good friend of Gianfranco of Pane e Vino....and share a very similar wine-making philosophy, and they are well connected in the Italian natty scene.
The wines are explosive....full of energy and in most cases high in alcohol. Soils are sandy mainly. The word "Meigamma" ... means "siesta" in the local dialect. The place they live in is actually truly stunning...one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.... and after trying their awesome food and wine....a siesta is recommended."
